Don't like the lineup, don't go!

I will admit I am one of those people that will stay up to watch music festival lineups get announced. I know it may sound riduculous to some people to wait up when I will just as easily be able to see the lineup the next day. I actually often can't hold the suspence any longer to see if the rumours are true and one of my favourite bands are coming to a city near me. On occassion it ends in utter dissappointment when the lineup is nothing like what I have anticipated or does not remotely meet my taste in music, but I get over it and wait for another festival lineup to be released. 

Recently the Big Day Out 2012 lineup was released via their facebook and twitter page. I, for one are very excited about the lineup with the likes of Soundgarden, Kasabian, My Chemical Romance, The Getaway Plan and The Living End forming part of the first announcement. However this is not what caught my attention while trawling through the various posts on the official facebook page. I actually could not get over the number of people complaining about how 'shit' the lineup or the headliner kanye west is- yes you should be able to voice your opinion and all but is that kind of thing necessary? Posting shit on a festivals page that rips into either the promoters or artists performing, in my opinion makes you a lowlife who obviously has nothing better to do in your pathetic excuse for a life. Not everyone has the same taste in music and promoters can only do their best when booking bands- a lineup, regardless of the festival is NOT going to cater to everyones musical taste!

The bottom line is if you don't like a particular lineup, don't go! It is as simple as that. No one is forcing you to go to a festival, that you believe has a shit lineup. My tip? Save your money for a festival or concert you would rather attend.

Welcome to the soundtrack to these stories that i tell...

So this blog came about due to my love of music and possibly due to some procrastination and boredom that comes with the stress of studying for exams - I have always wanted to write a blog but I never really though I would have anything rather interesting to say or that other people would be interested in but it kinda of came to me the other day on the long drive home from uni while I was singing outrageously loud to one of my all time favourite bands Yellowcard, that I should write a blog about music

Music is a largely positive influence in my life- it can bring you up when your down, it is a great way to pass time (like the long trips to and from uni in the car or on the train- or just plain procrastinating), it is a good way to de-stress and just plain having a good time

I love listening to a wide variety of different music styles, going to concerts to see live music (there is nothing i would rather be doing) and just spending money on music in general - I swear its where the bulk of my pay disappears to  :S

Anyway I thought I would use this blog as a means of sharing my love of music with others- through lyrics, pictures and words- I hope you follow me on the journey to find the soundtrack to these stories that I tell
